Water Main Flushing

As part of the City of New Westminster’s maintenance program, the flushing of the water mains will take place from March 1 to May 1, 2021.

Flushing of the water mains is required to remove sediments and to maintain water quality.  This may result in your water supply appearing cloudy due to the sediments.  Since some staining of laundry may result and some industrial processes may be affected we recommend the following:

  • Run your cold water tap until the water clears up
  • Check the water supply before doing laundry

If in doubt, please check the City’s website for daily updates on the streets being flushed or call the Water Department at 604-526-4691 between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.
