Public Works Week May 21-27
Public Works Week raises awareness about the value and necessities of public works and the importance it plays on the quality of our daily life. Whether it’s having clean drinking water, a flushing toilet, lights, or garbage pick-up, our often unrecognized public works crews operate 24/7 to ensure residents are being provided with essential services. This year’s theme is “Connecting the World Through Public Works,” which highlights the way public works professionals connect us physically through infrastructure and inspirationally through service to their communities; whether that’s as first responders or daily workers carrying out their duties with pride. Public works connectors help keep communities strong by providing an infrastructure of services in transportation, water, wastewater and stormwater treatment, solid waste, public buildings and spaces, parks and grounds, emergency management and first response, and right-of-way management. So, this week we acknowledge and thank all the public works employees at the City of New Westminster for the hard work they do to make our community a great place to live and work.
